Paper Mache, Wood, Ceramics, Oil Paint, Arduino, Cyanotypes, and Textile
Created a large-scale, interactive installation where viewers were able to enter a seashell home. This project focused on the transient nature of home traveling with us through the people we meet, our loved ones, and memories. It is composed of three main parts derived from natural environments: (1) The Sea (2) The Sky (3) The Land. Each element exists together as a living organism based on world-building etymologies rooted in real life. I knew when I began this project one year it was not only a first departure, but a journey to carry fragments of a place without fully understanding
their weight.
For this project, I also explored physical computing through an Arduino board as a means of creating a boundary between the physical and digital world. Upon entering the seashell, motion-activated sensors activated light and sound, further immersing
the viewer.
